Sculpture Honors Chicago Special Olympics' 50th Anniversary

A 30-foot steel monument can now be seen outside Soldier Field to honor the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics!

The events were was first held in Chicago at the stadium 50 years ago and The "Eternal Flame of Hope" symbolizes the Special Olympics' theme of inclusion and unity, as well as hope.

The sculpture weighs 7,000 pounds and will have a flame that can grow up to 15 feet.

The lighting of the sculpture will be held at noon Friday after a law enforcement torch run.
