Indiana Firefighters Set Up Ladders to Help Raccoons Escape Warehouse Fire

A couple of raccoons are lucky to be alive after firefighters set up a ladder allowing them to escape a warehouse fire in Indiana on Sunday.

"Some people would ask, 'Why save the raccoons?'” the South Bend Fire Department captioned a Facebook video showing the rodents' hasty escape. “Life safety and property conservation are two priorities on a fire scene."

The clip shows the pair of trash pandas climbing down off a smoky roof with help from the two ladders firefighters left for them.

WNDU News reported that children watching the fire cheered as the animals arrived on the ground safe.
