This Michigan mom of five has never been in trouble with the law, but there's a warrant out for her arrest... Over 2 overdue library books!
Melissa Sanders, who works as a security guard, learned she was a wanted woman when she applied for a promotion at work. As standard procedure her boss ran a routine background check as part of her application for the promotion. She thought he was kidding when he told her there was a warrant out for her arrest. She was suspended from work over the warrant.
Melissa is a mom to five kids, and the books were checked out for her kids to use. The crazy things is...she DID return them! But she returned them late and there was a late fee. She never received a notice about the fee, and therefore didn't pay it. Now Sanders is charged with failure to return rental property, which carries a maximum penalty of 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.
