Charles Calvin of New Chicago, Indiana, wanted to get some money out of his bank account last Friday and then decided to see if his stimulus check had arrived. Instead, he found an additional $8.2 million had been deposited into his account!
The volunteer firefighter then did the smart thing and called his bank, who told him his real balance had been restored and the extra millions were now gone.
"It kind of sucks," Calvin told WGN-TV. "You go from being a millionaire one second then back to being broke again. But hey, once you're poor you don't have anywhere else to go but up." Calvin isn't sure if it was a bank error, or a mistake made by the federal government.
The silver lining is that his $1,700 in stimulus funds has arrived!
