Ex-NASA Engineer Builds Obstacle Course to Stop Squirrels From Taking Seed

While stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic, former NASA engineer Mark Rober grew so bored that he decided to take up birdwatching. To attract birds to his yard, he put some bird seed in what was supposed to be a squirrel-proof feeder, which the squirrels still managed to breach and raid.

So Rober used his engineering skills to create an American Ninja Warrior-inspired obstacle course that he hoped the "parkour masters of the animal kingdom" couldn't conquer. But he underestimated his furry foes, who simply used their athletic ability to keep stealing the seed.

A video of Rober's elaborate setup has since gone viral.
