KFC Is Working With Russian Bioprint Agency to Make 3D Chicken Nuggets

If you're not a fan of scientifically engineered food, then you may be too "chicken" to try what KFC is cooking up. Mashable reports that the fast-food chain is teaming up with a 3D bio-printing firm in Russia to develop chicken nuggets in a lab--or what they call the "meat of the future." In a press statement, the chicken chain claims that 3D Bioprinting Solutions is "developing additive bio-printing technology using chicken cells and plant material, allowing it to reproduce the taste and texture of chicken meat." While that may sound unappetizing, the outlet notes that lab meats are often "a lot healthier for you" since they forego "additives used in traditional farming and agriculture." They also avoid inhumane farming practices and create way fewer greenhouse gases. KFC says a final product should be ready this coming fall in Moscow, but there's no word yet on when the product may hit U.S. markets.
