The City has Come up with Winter Outdoor Dining Ideas

A couple weeks back they City of Chicago put out an ad for people to come up with ideas on what to do for restaurants when the cold weather really comes back. The city gave back a total of 643 entries and some of them are pretty interesting.

Of all the submissions suggested, there were multiple that suggested repurposing old CTA buses and trains for dining purposes. There was another similar suggestion that restaurants should be allowed to rent buses or train cars to use as a socially distancing space. Another popular idea was the “Slide and Dine”, which involves building modular greenhouse-like structures that would come with their own heating and ventilation system. There was even a suggestion to use old phone booths to keep people warm. No matter what the suggestions are though, it really shows you that despite the pandemic and uncertainty, we are still a very creative, sometimes comical city.
