- Beloved comedian and actress Betty White will be laid to rest in a private funeral because she “never wanted people to make a fuss over her,” her publicist has confirmed.
- Jeff Witjas, the star’s longtime agent and friend, had this to say to People on Wednesday. (Jan. 5)
- "The arrangements are being handled privately and that was Betty's wish," Witjas says. "As in life, she never wanted people to make a fuss over her."
- It is unknown when the ceremony will take place, and what celebrities are invited.
- White died on Dec. 31 at age 99 of natural causes at her home in Brentwood, Calif. a few weeks shy of her 100th birthday on Jan. 17.
- The Hollywood agent noted those who want to pay their respects may do so by choosing to donate to one or more of her favorite animal-themed charities "in her honor."
- "If someone has a desire to do something in her honor, you can support or donate to one or more of her favorite charities or even donate to a local animal charity of your choice," he said.
- The #BettyWhiteChallenge is already trending asking fans to donate $5 to an animal shelter or rescue of their choice in her name.
