Uber and Lyft Drop Mask Requirement For Riders and Drivers

  • Uber and Lyft won't require passengers or drivers to wear masks anymore. 
  • Both rideshare companies pulled back the regulation on Tuesday. 
  • The move takes place after a federal judge struck down the CDC's public transportation mask mandate.
  • Uber issued a statement saying, "Remember: many people still feel safer wearing a mask because of personal or family health situations, so please be respectful of their preferences."
  • Lyft had a similar stance in its statement: "We know that everyone has different comfort levels, and anyone who wants to continue wearing a mask is encouraged to do so."
