An Amazing Couple With Down Syndrome Heading to GBN Homecoming

It's National Down Syndrome Awareness Month starting October 1st and nothing brings light to the joy and awesomeness of friends and family with Down Syndrome than this story. Northbrook's 18-year old Maddy Gillespie, senior at Glenbrook North High School, took this weekend's homecoming dance into her own hands. Last week Maddy and her friends colorfully decorated poster board with "Will you Go To Homecoming With Me." She grabbed some cookies from Crumbl Cookies, Maddy's employer, and enlisted a driver with a cool Jeep to take her to Nick Kotsinis's house to ask him to the school's homecoming dance on Saturday, Oct. 1st. Nick, a 20 year-old Glenbrook South student in the transition program, said "YES!". Maddy and Nick both have Down Syndrome and this will be an incredible night for the two friends. They plan to go to their favorite restaurant Naf Naf and then to the school dance. There might even be a few surprises for the couple provided by friends and family along the way. We hope you guys have THE BEST time ever and can't wait to see the pictures! To Celebrate and Learn more about Down Syndrome CLICK HERE
