Chicago is taking nominations for the official Christmas tree that’ll anchor Millennium Park’s festivities.

What they want:

  • At least 45 feet tall
  • Growing within 50 miles of the Loop (bonus points inside 15 miles)
  • Norway spruce or other fir preferred - no pines

Fun fact: last year’s pick was a 53-foot Colorado blue spruce from a Logan Square family.

How to throw your tree’s hat in the ring:

Email dcase@cityofchicago.org with:

  • Owner’s name, address, phone, email
  • A quick note on why your tree is special
  • Two photos (one close-up, one wide)

Deadlines & dates:

  • Submissions close: Oct. 14
  • Tree lighting: Nov. 21 in Millennium Park
  • On display through: Jan. 11, 2026

If your backyard evergreen is basically a skyscraper, this might be its star turn.
