Teacher Put On Leave After Shampooing Students Hair

Maria Bernardez, a first-grade teacher at Nina Ontero Community School in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has been placed on administrative leave for allegedly shampooing several students’ hair during class.

The New Mexican reports that Bernardez has an extremely sensitive nose, so if a student’s hair was too fragrant, she’d take the pupil to a sink and wash his or her hair with an odorless shampoo. For her part, Bernardez denies any wrongdoing, saying some students decided to wash their own hair, including a boy who couldn't stop playing with his mohawk.
