An 11-year-old boy in Queens, New York, is being hailed as a hero after he died saving the life of a friend who fell into a frozen pond. The tragic accident occurred Tuesday around 4 p.m. in Forest Park. "He was on land. He only went out to the ice after the other kid fell through," a law enforcement source told The New York Post about Anthony Perez's daring rescue of his 12-year-old friend, Juan Umpierrez. "[Perez] was able to push him out to safety, but he fell through the ice and he couldn't get out." Says Perez's neighbor Carmen Rivera, "I'm going to call him a hero. He's a hero."
