THIS is the Top Reason Why Contestants Are REJECTED from Bachelor

Los Angeles Times staff writer Amy Kaufman’s reveals in her new book, Bachelor Nation: Inside the World of America’s Favorite Guilty Pleasure, that the biggest reason applicants are turned away from the reality dating show is for having an STD.

“As soon as the medical tests came back, you’d see that herpes was the biggest thing,” says Ben Hatta, [creator and executive producer] Mike Fleiss’ old assistant, in an excerpt. “And sometimes you’d be the first person to tell a contestant that they had herpes. You’d be like, ‘Uh, you should call your doctor.’” As Jezebel notes, 16 percent of women and 8 percent of men between the ages o 14 to 49 are affected by herpes.
