8 Year Old Boy Scout Protected Kids During Shooting Honored Today

An 8-year-old boy who helped protect children during a church shooting will be honored as Cub Scout of the Year today in Tennessee. According to The Tennessean, Micah Carter is credited with piling furniture against the door of a small room to keep the gunman out during a shooting at the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ last year.

The Cub Scout also calmed and quieted his sisters, who were among the children in the room, to keep the gunman from hearing them. The Middle Tennessee Council of the Boy Scouts of America will honor Carter at an annual patrons' luncheon.
