A friend of mine from high school is a nurse at La Rabida's outpatient clinic in Chicago and she tells me that the do something pretty cool for their patients and siblings of patients. When they visit they give them new books to read while the wait and to take home. They hope to promote literacy as well as parent child bonding. Can you donate? You can swing by and drop off your new books (they especially need baby board books and books for teenagers, but all books are welcome) at the hospital. You will given you a tax donation form if desired and they ask that you please indicate “books for OUTPATIENT CLINIC PATIENTS”. They will be picked up by the Child Life staff and earmarked for the clinic specifically. Here's the hospital info.
