Boy That Went Viral in 2014 Feared Dead

The black boy who went viral after he was photographed hugging a white cop at a 2014 Black Lives Matter demonstration is feared dead along with his two adoptive mothers and five siblings after the family's SUV plunged off a cliff in California this week. "

An entire family vanished and perished during this tragedy," Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman said Wednesday at a press conference about the Harts, including the famous photo's now-15-year-old Devonte. He added that "we have every indication to believe that all six children were in" the car at the time of the incident. The SUV was found when a passerby noticed it days ago.

"There were no skid marks, there were no brake marks, there was no indication why this vehicle traversed approximately over 75 feet of a dirt pullout and went into the Pacific Ocean," Allman explained. He later added, "We have no evidence and no reason to believe this is an intentional act." Meanwhile, the Harts' neighbors told The Oregonian they called the authorities on Friday after Devonte repeatedly came over asking for food. Said Dana Dekalb, "They portray this happy little family...it was not the family we saw next door."
