When you want to lose weight, One of the first foods you usually cut from your diet is pasta, but a new study suggests that might be unnecessary.
According to researchers at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, who published their findings in the journal BMJ Open, consuming pasta does not pack on the pounds. They also found that there are a lot of advantages to eating pasta, which is low on the glycemic index and often high in fiber and whole grains.
Researchers analyzed 32 randomized controlled trials wherein participants--most of whom were around the age of 50--ate pasta instead of other carbohydrates. None of them gained weight, and some even lost a pound after 12 weeks.
