Humiliated teen says school made her cover ‘protruding’ nipples

A 17-year-old student in Bradenton, Florida, is fighting back after she got pulled out of class last week for going braless under a long-sleeved shirt. Lizzy Martinez says a school nurse told her to put Band-Aids over her nipples after Dean Violeta Velazquez first made her put on a second shirt, then instructed her to "move and jump around" to see how much her breasts moved.

"They told me to cross out my nipples and I just went to the bathroom and cried," says Martinez. "I was in shock that it was such a big deal that I wasn't wearing a bra." The school district's lawyer has since said in a statement, "It is undisputed that this matter should have been handled differently at the school level," but added that Martinez violated the school's dress code by dressing in a way that distracted other students.

Martinez has also been blocked by the Braden River High School Twitter account after protesting the incident on social media, while her mother says, "We should not treat a girl like this because of where her fat cells decided to distribute genetically."
