Blood was found at the home of Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie, as the local sheriff confirmed that she is feared to be the victim of "a possible kidnapping or abduction."

The blood was reportedly found alongside signs of forced entry at Guthrie's Catalina Hills, Arizona, home, law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times, though it hasn't been confirmed who the blood belonged to.

“At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly [in the] middle of the night,” Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Kevin Adger said. “Detectives are looking into a possible kidnapping or abduction.”

DNA evidence found at Guthrie's home is also reportedly being inspected, KVOA reports. The 84-year-old reportedly left her car and cellphone at the scene and data from the device could provide more details on when she was taken, ABC News reports.

Savannah Guthrie is reportedly expected to pull out of NBC's 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics opening ceremony coverage amid her mother disappearance, Page Six reported on Monday (February 2). The journalist was set to travel to Italy ahead of the start of the Winter Olympics on Friday (February 6) and host alongside Terry Gannon, as well as stay in Italy for a week to record the TODAY Show alongside her longtime former co-host Hoda Kotb and provide commentary for the event with Gannon and three-time snowboarding gold medalist Shaun White.

“There is no way Savannah will be there,” an NBC source told Page Six.

Police announced that they're treating Nancy Guthrie's disappearance as a crime on Monday (February 2).

“We know she didn’t just walk out of there,” said Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos via CNN. “She did not leave on her own.”

Savannah broke her silence on her mother's disappearance in a statement shared through the TODAY Show amid her own absence on Monday.

“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” the statement reads. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.”

“We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900,” Savannah added.

A spokesperson for the Guthrie family also issued a statement to the New York Post addressing Nancy's disappearance.

“We can confirm this is a missing persons case, and the family is working closely with local law enforcement. If anyone has any information, please contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900. The family is grateful for the outreach, thoughts and prayers," the statement reads.

Nancy was reported missing on Sunday (February 1) after having last been seen at her Catalina Foothills home at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday (January 31), with Nanos confirming that one of her relatives made a 911 call to report her missing during a press conference. Nancy was described as being "not of good physical health" and a "vulnerable adult" following her disappearance.

Homicide detectives were also reported to have searched the 84-year-old's home, which authorities confirmed wasn't standard protocol in a missing person case.

“We’ve pretty much thrown everything at this as we can,” Nanos said about the search mission during the press conference. “I don’t need to tell you, this is very concerning to us; we don’t typically get the sheriff out on a scene like this but it is very concerning.
