New Tax on Uber and Lift

It started a couple of days ago and it is here to stay Chicago, the Uber Lift Congestion Tax. This new tax makes it so there is an additional charge to all trips made in the city and surrounding areas Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The charge that will be added to the usual UBER/Lift fare will be 1.25 for single passenger trips and .65 for the pool trips. It’s also different if you are heading downtown with the additional charge being at 1.75 for each trip.

This isn’t really that bad of a tax though considering it opens up many doors to alternative ways of getting around, like taking the bus, or the CTA, or even the good old fashioned bicycle (at least when its not freezing outside).

If you want to know more about how this will affect how you’ll be getting around you can check out the article from Channel 7 Here
