'Trading Spaces' Designer Frank Bielec Dead At 72

Frank Bielec, one of the stars of Trading Spaces, has died at the age of 72.

The designer's wife, Judy, told TMZ he passed away on Friday (May 15) after suffering a heart attack the day prior.

According to the outlet, Frank was first taken to a hospital in Katy, Texas. However, he was transferred to a Houston hospital for specialized treatment where he passed away.

Frank appeared on Trading Spaces from the TLC series' first episode in 2000 until the final episode in 2008. He also appeared on the 2018 reboot.

Interior designer Vern Yip, who also appeared on Trading Spaces, mourned Frank's passing on Facebook, writing, "Lovely Frank Bielec passed away today from complications following a heart attack. I’m so, so saddened. Exceedingly funny, wise, nice, and talented, he always lent needed perspective and levity to every situation. Thank You for always being kind to me. Always. I will miss you dearly friend. The world is darker, and much less colorful today, without you in it."

There will reportedly be no funeral service. Frank, however, will be cremated and his ashes "will put inside a round wooden box and placed on top of a fireplace" in his shared home with his wife Judy, TMZ reports.

Frank is survived by his wife, their son Matt, and grandchildren Mason and Ava.
