ALS Walk For Life - September 18th

Join our Les Turner ALS family at the 20th Anniversary ALS Walk Life September 18th for Chicagoland’s largest gathering of people living with ALS and their friends and family! Teams fundraise in honor or memory of a loved one living with ALS and gather in a day full of celebration, hope and courage. With food, music and children’s activities, the day is meant for all those who love or have loved someone living with ALS to come together as one, big family.

When you attend the ALS Walk for Life, you’ll take a two-mile stroll along Chicago’s beautiful lakefront and finish your walk going through iconic Soldier Field before crossing the finish line. Come, join our family, and together we will create a world free of ALS.

Here's all you need to know!!

WHEN:

·Saturday, September 18, 2021. Festivities begin at 9:30am.The Walk (or roll) kicks-off at 11am.

WHERE:

·The ALS Walk for Life is traditionally a two-mile walk or roll along Chicago’s picturesque lakefront, starting and finishing through Soldier Field.

·All are welcome. There is no registration fee, but fundraising is encouraged.

WHO:

·The ALS Walk for Life supports the Les Turner ALS Foundation.

·For over 40 years, the Les Turner ALS Foundation has been Chicagoland’s leader in ALS comprehensive care, support and scientific research for the prevention, treatment and cure of ALS.

WHAT:

·The ALS Walk for Life is a fundraising and community event which features a two-mile stroll along Chicago’s beautiful lakefront.

·Now in its 20th year, the ALS Walk for Life is Chicagoland’s premiere gathering of people living with ALS along with their family and friends.

·This is an accessible, walk or wheelchair roll event for people of any age or ability, at an easy pace.

·Pre-walk and finish-line activities also take place outdoors in a festival-like atmosphere, featuring great food and music.

·Especially fitting, given our proximity to Soldier Field, a special presentation will honor Chicago Bears great Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael with the first-ever ALS Walk for Life Courage Award. (McMichael is a Super Bowl champion now living with ALS.)

·We anticipate that most Walkers will celebrate together at Soldier Field. However, this year, there is also a Remote Walk Option available for people who would prefer to participate remotely.

WHY:

·Proceeds from the ALS Walk for Life fund critically important support services, community education, ground-breaking research and clinical care taking place at the Les Turner ALS Center at Northwestern Medicine.

SAFETY:

·The entire event will be held outdoors, in the fresh air.

·The event’s Covid-19 safety protocols meet or exceed all City of Chicago and State of Illinois guidelines.

·Masks are strongly recommended for everyone, for the safety of people living with ALS, children and others who are at high risk.

·Remote Walk Option: Though we’d love to see you in-person at Soldier Field, there is a Remote Option available for people who would prefer to participate in the ALS Walk for Life at their own location.
