Chicago has always been known for its incredible architecture, the gigantic Willis Tower, the vibrant London House, even Daily Plaza, but have you ever wondered what the ugliest buildings were in town? Well now you don’t need to wonder, you can just go on a tour! Mike McMains, of Tours with Mike, has put together a new tour that highlights some of the ugliest buildings in town with his tongue-in-cheek Ugly Buildings Tour.
The walking tour is located around River North, with it starting next to Merchandise Mart and ending at Navy Pier. The tour takes a deep dive not only into the ugliness of certain buildings, but why they are “ugly”, what makes them “ugly”, and how their juxtaposition to the beautiful building might make the building not so ugly after all. Some of the buildings on the tour include: The House of Blues, 55 West Wacker building, Greenway Self Park, and the State-Kinzie-Wabash Self Park. So, if you want to know what ugly buildings our city has to offer, what other tours are in our city, or just want to get a good laugh, head on over to the main article here.
