Fresh produce Market Opening in North Lawndale

Over in North Lawndale, a one of a kind grocery store is coming to an area that needs it more than most. Local residents Albert Person and Kandis Williams want to turn a vacant storefront on 628 S. Pulaski into North Lawndale Fresh Meat & Producer Market.

The plans came from a lack of easy access to fresh produce to the neighborhood and the hard year that was 2020. Anger for the situation turned to action, and Person turned his plans for an event space into plans for a food space.

The past few months have been spent getting permits, setting up the space, and ordering inventory. With their debut on the horizon, they hope the store will nourish Chicagoans in more ways than one, by providing hope for the community and to start something new in the neighborhood. The opening is planned for some time in mid-February, with plans for a farmers market being made for the lot behind the building.
