A Lion Cub has been Born in Lincoln Park Zoo!

Something beautiful happened over in Lincoln Park Zoo a couple days ago. For the first time in 20 years, a Lion Cub was born at the zoo. Its mother is a 3-year-old Lioness named Zari, and its father is a 4-year-old Lion named Jabari.

The zoo says lion cubs typically open their eyes a few days after being born and will start to be more mobile and curious, and will begin to explore its surroundings in the coming weeks. This birth is a major milestone moment for the zoo, which has just reopened its lion house and welcomed its Lions back in October.

The zoo says that the arrival of the cub signifies the lion pride is comfortable with their new habitat. While we all probably want to see the lion cub, the mother and her cub will be staying behind the scenes for the next couple of months.

So, if you want to know more about the lions at the Lincoln Park Zoo, want to learn something about lion cubs, or just like stories about baby animals, head on over to the main article here.
