Local Chicagoan Celebrates St Patrick's Day by Playing the Bagpipe!

Folks around the city took time last week to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in their own way. Maybe you had a party with friends, maybe you stayed home and watched the parade, or maybe you played the bagpipes.

One Chicago UPS driver did exactly that. Mike O’Donnell, a south side UPS driver, played the bagpipes during down time in between drop offs, to celebrate the holiday. Mike knows what it takes to be a good bagpiper, but he says it is hard to find the time to practice.

So, Mike makes the most of his day and plays in the parking lot during lunch hour. Mike started playing at 19-years-old after seeing a group of Irish musicians perform at his church. 30 years later, he has played in 3 different bands and has competed in the U.S. and abroad for competitive bagpiping.

If you want to know more about Mike and how we spread some holiday cheer around the city, head on over to the main article here.
