It finally happened, Chicago, Cook County has a new flag! No longer will the county just have the county crest on its flag, it now has a local design with a historical story behind it. A couple weeks ago the Cook County Board of commissioners met to choose the new flag for Cook County, in their meeting they chose the flag called “I Will”.
Designed by a Glenbrook South high School Student Andrew Duffy, the flag shows through color, shape, and symbolism the importance of the County’s waterways, the beauty of its natural lands, the innovation and commerce of its residents, and its core belief in social justice. The flag is planned to be raised in a ceremony planned for late summer.
