First Full Cherry Blossom Bloom in Jackson Park

The wait is over Chicago, down in Jackson Park the city is having its first ever full-blown Cherry Blossom season. That’s right, the 160 temperamental young trees in Jackson Park are living up to their promises.

Arriving in Chicago at the beginning of 2013 as part of a commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the 1893 World's Fair, these trees were specifically planted for Hanami. Hanami is the traditional Japanese practice of cherry-blossom viewing, which makes it all the better that they are in full bloom. And while some of the petals are falling, there still are large clouds of them on the trees.

So, if you have some time to yourself and to travel down to Jackson Park, go and see the first ever true Cherry Blossom bloom in the whole city, and if you want to know more about them, head on over to the main article here.
