Bike Sales have Nearly Doubled in the US since Pandemic Started

This makes a lot of sense (especially if you have tried to buy one recently) but bike sales have almost doubled in the US since the pandemic began with people looking for other modes of public transportation AND looking for something fun to do with their families. Places like Walmart and Target have been wiped out and many independent retailers are moving bikes as fast as they can. Sales of bikes in the last two months alone have seen their biggest increase since the oil crisis of the 1970's. Now many say they are buying bikes like we were buying toilet paper. This isn't just happening in the US, the increase is now being felt all over the world as demand rises to find alternatives in crowded cities for public transportation. Ironically, in 2019 the projected sales of bicycles was supposed to be WAY lower than ever before. Pretty wild.
