Hollywood's gender-flipping casting trend is taking to the high seas, with Margot Robbie set to star in a female-fronted Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Reuters reports that the film, which is being written byBirds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson, is in the early stages of development, with longtime Pirates filmmaker Jerry Bruckheimer on board to produce. Other franchises that have been given a female-fronted freshening up in recent years include the 2016Ghostbusters reboot and 2018'sOcean's 8, starring Sandra Bullock, Rihanna and Cate Blanchett.
