Burger King announced that it would introduce lemongrass leaves to its cows' diets in hopes of reducing their methane emissions by about 33 percent. The AP reports that Burger King worked with scientists at the Autonomous University at the State of Mexico and at the University of California-Davis to test and develop its formula of adding 100 grams of lemongrass leaves to the cows’ daily diets. Preliminary tests indicate that these leaves help cows release less methane (i.e., fart less frequently) as they digest their food. Burger King launched its global-warming initiative with a cheeky social-media campaign that includes an explanatory music video sung by children and a tweet that reads, "Breathe the farts of change."
