CEO of Levi Strauss Says Skinny Jeans are Out and Baggy are IN

  • With many people still working from home, every day is casual Friday. That's great news for jeans maker Levi Strauss.
  • Levi’s CEO Chip Bergh told the fashion world in a recent interview that we are in the early stages of a new denim cycle. The last one, led by skinny denim, lasted about 10 years, he said.
  • Chip said all sales signs point to this being the beginning of a, quote, "new denim cycle."
  • Skinny jeans are fading out and looser, wider legs are in for both men and women.
  • He says the pandemic really pushed the trend over the edge because now people are, "looking for a more comfortable, more relaxing denim."
  • So are skinny jeans totally done?
  •  "I don't think [they're] ever going to go away completely. But clearly right now we are seeing a very strong demand for these looser fits."
  • Are you glad to see skinny jeans go away?
