- Studies also show that drinking four or five eight-ounce cups of coffee a day could reduce death rates. A 30-year study found that participants who drank between three and five cups of joe per day with 15% less likely to die early than those who don't drink coffee.
- There are still risks to drinking coffee, especially for pregnant women. Caffeine can cross into the fetus and give a higher risk of miscarriage, low birth weight, and premature birth. It's recommended that pregnant women take in less than 200 milligrams, or under two cups of coffee, per day.
