Michigan Man Unearths More Than 150 Bowling Balls During Home Renovation

  • A Detriot man's home renovation project took an odd turn on July 1st.
  • While demolishing his back steps, David Olsen noticed a black sphere half-buried behind some cinder blocks, which turned out to be a bowling ball.
  • But he kept finding them, and as of Tuesday, Olsen has found 160 bowling balls buried in his yard. Olsen said, "There's definitely more ... but at this point in the area I need to work, I've dug down about 2 feet lower than when I found my last ball and I think it's pretty much cleared out in that section."
  • Olsen contacted Brunswick Bowling Products, the company that made the bowling balls, and learned they were made in the 50s and likely taken home from the company plant in Muskegon, Michigan to be used as sand or gravel alternative.
  • Olsen also said he thought about donating the bowling balls, but they're all in pretty rough shape.
