16 Million Americans have Tried Learning Guitar During Pandemic

  • A new study from Fender and YouGov shows that plenty of Americans chose guitar as a pandemic hobby. 16 million Americans have tried learning guitar in the last nearly two years.
  • 72% of those aspiring guitarists are 13 to 34 years old.
  • 53% say they practice less than twice a week while one in four players haven't been practicing much at all.
  • Hip-hop is most popular amongst new players even though they are less likely to associate the genre with guitar.
  • 58% of those 16 million head to TikTok for guitar tutorials, which led Fender to create its own TikTok channel specifically for guitar-playing tips and tricks.
