Man Sues Folgers for ‘Grossly Misrepresented’ Amount of Coffee in Can

  • A man in Missouri says his best part of waking up would be Folgers not being cheap on the cups.
  • Cass County resident Mark Smith filed a lawsuit against Folgers' parent company last week claiming that the serving sizes and quantity listed on Folgers' coffee canisters are "grossly misrepresented."
  • We won't get into this guy's caffeinated math but he claims that Folgers only provides around 68% of the grounds promised on the can's label.
  • Smith called it "a classic and unlawful bait-and-switch scheme that causes unsuspecting consumers to spend more money for less than the advertised amount of coffee they believe they are purchasing."
  • This isn't the first time Folgers has faced this kind of lawsuit. They now get around the quantity dispute by writing that the cans provide "up to” so many cups of coffee. Folgers then backs that up by saying no two people use the same amount of grounds for that perfect cup of joe.
