Could Potato Chip Prices Rise Because Of The Russia-Ukraine Conflict?

  • The crisis in Ukraine has another after-effect for the rest of the world. 
  • Potato chip prices could rise because of the Russian invasion. 
  • Companies that use sunflower oil to fry chips and make other snacks might be hit with higher prices and the spike could be passed on to consumers. 
  • Why? Ukraine exports 46 percent of the world's sunflower and safflower oil, making the country the most prominent supplier.
  • Russia comes in second place exporting 23 percent of the planet's sunflower oil. 
  • Prices on sunflower oil were already going up. The current conflict makes more hikes inevitable.
