  • A gang of Dutch dairy thieves made off with over $23,000 worth of cheese last week.
  •  A rep for the Association of Farm Dairy Preparers claimed the theft was a “violent well-organized crime" operation involving criminals that "already explored the farm shop a few days before so that they know exactly what to pack."
  •  Nearly 4% of the world’s cheese is stolen and sold in an “underground craft cheese market”, usually landing in places like Russia where economic boycotts prevented the sale of it.
  •  They take their cheese seriously in the Netherlands. Each cheese has a registration code stamped into its rind. Thieves either ruin it when they try to remove its code or they get busted when they try to flip the cheese.
