Florida County In Quarantine Over A Giant Snail

A Florida county is going into quarantine - not because of a virus, but a snail.
The giant African land snail - or GALS for short - has been spotted in Pasco County in South Florida.
The snails are invasive and can do heavy damage to crops and the environment - but they're also a risk to humans, thanks to a parasite that can cause meningitis.
They're even capable of eating the paint right off the side of a house as a source of calcium.
Local agriculture officials are trying to get rid of the snails using poison.
