- A new three-digit hotline launches on Saturday in hopes of saving lives.
- If Americans text or dial 988, they'll be connected with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
- Suicide is a leading cause of death in our country for children 15 to 19 years old while the CDC reports that someone takes their life every 11 minutes in the US.
- At the moment, only 13 states have passed legislation to pay for staffing to answer the calls or texts. All other calls will be answered out-of-state.
- The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline will still keep its current number, 800-273-TALK, active.
