- Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the moon, is auctioning the jacket that he wore to the moon and back for up to $2 million.
- His coverall jacket is the only piece of clothing for sale during a July 26th Sotheby's auction celebrating the astronaut's life. With fellow astronauts Neil Armstrong and Mike Collins' jackets currently in the Smithsonian, this is the only jacket available for private ownership.
- Also going to auction are a broken circuit breaker that nearly ended the lives of those on the Apollo 11 mission and the felt tip pen that was used in its place.
- July 20th [marks/marked] the 53rd anniversary of the first Moon landing in 1969.
