- New COVID booster shots are on the way this fall.
- White House Covid coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha told NBC News that the shots will be available "in a few short weeks" for anyone 12 years old and up.
- The boosters will target COVID omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5. Currently, BA.5 accounts for 90 percent of the cases in the United States.
- Jha said the shots should "work much better at preventing infection transmission and serious illness."
