A new BMJ Global Health study finds that more than one billion young people are at serious risk of hearing loss from loud music and personal listening devices. The study showed that amongst individuals between the ages of 12 -34 there was anywhere between 24-48% of them who practiced "unsafe listening habits". It included things like the volume intensity, duration, or other loud noise exposure with unprotected ears. That means around 1.35 billion are already at risk for ringing in the ears, changes in hearing and hearing loss later in life. There are things you can do to lessen the impact of noise exposure- like simply turning down your devices or wearing protective earplugs at concerts.
