You don't have to rush now on gettig your REAL ID because on Monday, the Department of Homeland Security moved the deadline to update your ID to May 7, 2025. The delay is the third pandemic-related extension for REAL ID. The updated form of identification was scheduled for air travel starting in 2020 but was moved to 2021. The next deadline was pushed to May 3, 2023. You know if you actually HAVE the REAL ID if there is a gold star in the upper right hand corner. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said, "This extension will give states needed time to ensure their residents can obtain a REAL ID-compliant license or identification card."
