This has me really freaked out. If you spent time this summer near any of the American coasts it's possible you were very close to a gigantic white shark. Scientists caught, tagged, and released a shark named "Contender" back in January for research purposes. The shark is 13.8 feet long and weighs an estimated 1,653 pounds. Contender was the largest male shark ever caught. According to data, Contender spent his time near some popular beaches. The shark was tracked along Florida’s east coast, North Carolina's very popular Pamlico Sound, and in July, Contender was in the area of Cape Cod. I'm trying not to freak out, but how about you? Were you near any of these areas?
