An 81-year-old man suffered a serious head injury after getting pushed down the stairs of the Loop's newest train station on the platform at the Washington-Wabash train station Monday night at 9:25pm

Police said the thief yanked the victim's cellphone from his hands. A scuffle followed, and the suspect punched the victim in the face before pushing him down the stairs of the station.

He was sent to a local hospital's intensive care unit after the robbery.

Police described the suspect as a 19 to 24-year-old, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-7 black man wearing a black do-rag, black T-shirt and gray pants.
