Chicago beaches are recovering after another holiday weekend hit from local litterbugs.
“Memorial Day weekend is often one of the busiest of the beach season,” Maxey-Faulkner told the Chicago Tribune in a statement. “Crews were on duty all weekend, and the 4,000 trash cans and recycling bins were dumped multiple times daily. We’d like to remind patrons that keeping the beaches clean is the key to enjoying them.”
The Park District spends about $4.7 million a year cleaning up the 26 miles of lakefront as well as parks across the city.
Lots of photos with all the trash are below. So disgusting!
