The Freeport-Auburn season-opening high school football game was cancelled when gunfire was heard near the game last night.
Rockford Police say the shots came from two nearby vehicles and didn't seem to be directed toward the game. Players and fans inside the stadium did not know where the shots were coming from and chaos began as everyone rushed to escape.
Early reports are saying that no students or fans were injured by gunfire, but some were hurt as they ran from the field and Wyeth Stadium. At least one cheerleader was taken to the hospital.
Photos from the situation are in the video below. Very scary.
