On January 9 in Illinois, a rental car pulled up to the drop-off point at John J. Murphy Elementary School in Round Lake. An 11-year-old girl emerged from the driver's seat, turning the keys over to 31-year-old Khafilu M. Oshodi, who was soon arrested for child endangerment and driving while suspended according to the Chicago Tribune.
“It’s a circle drive drop-off and there were many staff, parents and students in the area,” Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko told The Chicago Tribune.
“Drop-off and pickup are the busiest times of the school day. If the child loses control, we’ve got disastrous results.”
Five days after the incident, the rental car the girl was driving was reported stolen, an incident that's now under investigation as well.
